Though Jason is 29 years her junior, that didn’t stop many who claimed to be close to the legend to comment that she is ‘madly in love’ with him and that he feels the same way for her. Some even went on to insist that though Dame Taylor didn’t believe that she’d fall in love again, her views changed once Jason came into her life. However, the idea of walking down the aisle wasn’t something that many could digest what with some close associates of the actor even going on record to say that the idea of the duo marrying was ‘silly stuff’. Dame Taylor’s complicated love life has included marriages to hotelier Conrad Hilton, actor Michael Wilding, producer Michael Todd, singer Eddie Fisher, actor Richard Burton (twice), US Senator John Warner, and construction worker Larry Fortensky.

When TOI got in touch with Dame Taylor’s office to get a confirmation on her ninth wedding, we received an e-mail that read thus: “Dame Elizabeth has been extremely involved in preparing the Mother’s Day launch of her 12th fragrance, Violet Eyes.” The actor said, “The rumours regarding my engagement simply aren’t true. Jason is my manager and dearest friend. I love him with all my heart.” For those not in the loop, Jason runs a show business agency and has clients like Janet Jackson, the sister of Dame Taylor’s late friend, Michael Jackson.

Meanwhile, another buzz doing the rounds in the Hollywood corridors claims that Dame Taylor is considering a comeback of sorts after 30 years of acting in a remake of 1950 classic Sunset Boulevard about the life of a has-been star. If rumours are to be believed, she is contending with the likes of Glenn Close, Meryl Streep and Barbra Streisand for the £5 million starring role made famous by Gloria Swanson. Colin Farrell is rumoured to be approached to play her leading man.
